![]() ![]() I guess what I'm saying is the upgrade you are looking at will yield mild improvements. Going from 24GB RAM to 32GBB or 64GB will only help if you are running Virtual Instrument that load samples into RAM for playback or improve disk cacheing. The I9 might get you a 10% increase in overall performance. My goal is to not worried about crashing an run as many Vst/Effect needed. The problem I have with this older system is it cant handle has many plugins and effects.Any Suggestions on what I should be looking for to increase Vst/Effect plugins for mixing or Mastering in 48Khz-96Khz and 24 bit. I use the I9 for 3D design and my son uses it for gaming. I do have an I9 Windows machine but I do my Protools tasks on my Mac (personal preference). If you are hoping for significantly better performance, you may be a little disappointed. If you need a new computer anyways, go for it. AMD has made greater strides these couple years but this Protools community historically prefers Intel. In time, processor development will make a significant leap forward, but the last few years have been only incremental improvements. I get that you want the latest, greatest system (we all do), but my honest opinion is that the jump from I7 to I9 is a small improvement at best. If you are running DSP based processors (HDX, UAD, etc.) the bulk of the work is offloaded to those processors and your main CPU won't make much difference. The extra RAM is useful only if you are loading sample libraries into RAM for your virtual instruments. The i9 will be a little faster (not like night and day faster). The i7 that you are currently using is adequate for many Protools uses. Without know more, here is my general opinion: Are you doing video or mostly audio? Do you use a ton of plugins? Are you using many virtual instruments, How many audio/MIDI tracks do you typically use? What sample rate do you use? What is the end product (Streaming, Motion Picture, Audio CD, MP3, Live Sound, Sound Design, Post, etc.). There are quite a few reviews out there with more coming in every week.It is difficult to assess your needs. Something tells me Mbox's long term acceptance will be dependent on its ability to perform in the wider market, with DAWs other than PT. If these users see value in the MBox, they may promote it by word of mouth once there are more in the field. And these folks don't seem to be too busy working, so they have more time to spend posting on social media. They go out of their way to suggest anything but Pro Tools as a DAW to their peers. There are many younger/newer users supporting each other on social media that seem to associate PT with 'boomers' or 'the man'. Regarding ecosystems, Presonus is eating at the bottom end and has a wider range of low-priced hardware offerings than Avid. In terms of advertising saturation, I probably see 10x more ads for UA products than Avid/MBox/PT. Its pricing (and let's admit it) revenue base skews more towards established facilities and users with high end solutions. Mbox was sometimes maligned back in the day and then forgotten, so the name and recognition value isn't as high.Īvid doesn't seem to target new and younger users so much. I too was surprised by its capabilities at its price point. r/MixClub /r/ListenToThis /r/Music /r/RadioReddit /r/LearnMusic /r/Reasoners /r/AudioPost /r/GameAudio /r/RateMyAudio /r/StudioPorn /r/SFXLibraries Pro Tools Operating System Compatibility ChartĬomputer Optimization and Troubleshooting Guides - Mac and Windows ![]() Pro Tools product line feature set comparison As the site guidelines and their notices tell you, be sure to read the sub rules before participating Feature/Sticky Post Schedule DayĬontent Creation Station - for Evals and Self-Promotion ![]() Whether it is yours or theirs, there are no allowable exceptions or appealable circumstances.
